Making computers work for people™
C64 BASICs

I loved the Commodore 64. It was my first real computer and I was on it endlessly. I was introduced to it by a good friend who not only had it, along with a ton of games, but his uncle worked for Commodore. Needless to say, he had access to a lot of stuff that most kids our age at the time did not.

More than playing games, I really liked making them. I learned BASIC from my brother, who was mainly winging his programming knowledge himself, but it came more naturally to him than it did to me. It took a number of years before I could finally debug everything myself, but I'll always be thankful to him for taking that extra time with me.

Why didn't we learn assembly language? The opportunity just didn't present itself growing up. I didn't know what a "machine language monitor" was, let alone where to buy it. So, I honed in on my BASIC skills. If it matters, I did finally learn a touch of assembly language and applied it to two games – Alien Smash (constant color blinking, even when the program was stopped) and Lost In Adventure (drew the rooms a tad faster).

Who is "The Skull"? That was my cheesy I-want-to-be-a-hacker-but-I'm-not name back then. :P Anyway, you'll need a Commodore 64 emulator to play my stuff.
